If you are a YOU account holder and have raised a chargeback request, you might be wondering how long it will take. The chargeback process can sometimes take up to four months to complete because several parties are involved and each step takes time.
Step 1: The Merchant Responds
Once we send your chargeback request to the merchant, they have 45 business days to review and respond.
Step 2: Refund (If the Merchant Agrees)
If the merchant accepts the chargeback and agrees to refund your money, they have 20 business days to send the refund.
Step 3: Dispute Review (If the Merchant Disagrees)
If the merchant doesn’t agree to the refund, we’ll challenge their decision on your behalf. This step can take up to 45 business days. During this stage, we might contact you for additional information or documents to help support your case.
Step 4: Visa’s Final Decision
If the merchant still disagrees after our challenge, the case is sent to Visa for a final review. Visa’s review can take another 45 business days to complete.
We’ll Keep You Updated
We understand that waiting can be frustrating, but please know that we’re following your case closely. Our team will update you as soon as there’s any new information. We really appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process.
